Fall Retreat

During the second weekend of October, HGSCF joins other grad school fellowships in the Boston area for a retreat at Toah Nipi, InterVarsity’s retreat center in New Hampshire.

For many students, it’s the highlight of the year: a weekend escape to a beautiful place at the height of fall foliage where they go deeper with God and form friendships that can last throughout grad school and indeed all of life.

At Toah Nipi, we worship together, take a deep dive into Scripture, eat a lot of good food, and have ample time for individual reflection or hanging out with friends. You can hike, kayak, canoe, play volleyball, bake, and toast marshmellows over the fire pit with friends from your program or new friends from other schools.

Some grad students are reluctant to spend a couple of days away from campus lest they get too behind on their work, but we have yet to meet a student who, at the end of the year, says that they regretted coming on the retreat because it delayed their homework! There is plenty of time to do work; there is only one chance to come on the fall retreat per year! So do plan on joining us. Scholarships are available for those who need them – we do not want finances to be a barrier to your coming on the retreat!
